When the employer and the domestic helpers mutually agreed to extend the work contract then contract renewal is required. Helpers who seek to renew their employment contracts with their current employers after the old contract has completed its two-year term must submit new applications to the Immigration Department, which are usually accepted within eight weeks of the original contract's expiration date. The contract renewal process usually takes 3-4 weeks and the process is more and less the same irrespective of the nationality of the domestic helper.
